Getting started
What is FriendsPros?
FriendsPros shows the contractors your friends trust. Members simply recommend the pros they have hired and would hire again — there are no ratings, rankings or bad reviews.
Add the app to your home screen: on iPhone, tap Share then Add to Home Screen in Safari; on Android, Chrome offers Install app.
Why use FriendsPros instead of other sites?
Every recommendation is organic: a member who hired a contractor and would hire them again. Contractors can’t pay to be recommended, to move up the list, or to have a recommendation removed.
Unlike review sites, you see people you know instead of strangers; unlike social media groups, you don’t have to post and wait. The full comparison is on the Why FriendsPros? page (friendspros.com/why).
Finding contractors
Finding a contractor
On Find a Contractor, tap a category such as Plumber, or type a company name in the search box.
Tap any contractor to see their phone, email, address, a Google reviews link and every recommendation.
Friends, Friends of friends, Local area
Friends: recommendations from people you are friends with (the default).
Friends of friends: also includes your friends’ friends.
Local area: recommendations from all members within 25 or 50 miles of your ZIP code.
You can change your default in Profile & Settings.
How results are sorted
Contractors recommended by your own friends come first, then those recommended by the most people in your chosen scope, then the most recently recommended.
The number badge shows how many people recommend them; it is gold when at least one is your friend. Tags like “On time ×3” show what stood out most.
When your friends haven’t recommended many in a category, “Popular near you” fills in with recommendations from members nearby.
“Not yet recommended” listings
These local businesses were added from public business data so you have somewhere to start. Nobody has recommended them yet, and FriendsPros does not rate them.
They appear in a random order each time, so no company gets a permanent top spot. Once someone recommends one, it moves into the normal results.
Use “See Google reviews” on the contractor’s page to read reviews before you call.
Your recommendations
Recommending a contractor
Recommend any contractor you have hired and would hire again: tap Recommend on their page, or My Pros → Recommend a Contractor.
Add an optional note, the month of the job, and what stood out. You can recommend up to 15 per category.
In My Pros, tap a recommendation to edit it, or × to withdraw it. Withdrawing is private — no one is told.
Listings
Adding a contractor
Enter the company name and phone number, choose at least one category, and add the contact name, email and address if you have them.
As you type, FriendsPros checks for the same phone, email or a similar name. If a match appears, tap “Yes, use this one” instead of creating a duplicate.
Fill from your phone’s contacts
Android (Chrome): tap “Choose a contact” and pick the contractor from your contact list.
iPhone: open the contractor in the Contacts app, tap Share Contact, then Save to Files. In FriendsPros, tap “Import contact card (.vcf)” and choose that file.
The contact is read on your phone only, and nothing is saved until you tap Save. Only contact card files can be used.
Managing or claiming a listing
Only the person who manages a listing (or an admin) can edit its details. If a listing has no manager, you’ll be offered “Claim it” the first time you use it.
Anyone can recommend any listing, managed or not.
Reporting incorrect info
On a contractor’s page, tap “Report incorrect info” for a wrong phone number, a closed business, a duplicate, or recommendations that look fake (for example, from the owner’s family). An admin reviews every report.
Suggesting a category
Don’t see a trade you need? Suggest a category. It appears for everyone once an admin approves it.
Friends & privacy
Adding friends
In Friends → Find & Invite, enter a friend’s email. If they’re a member, they get a request; if not, the request is waiting for them when they sign up.
Friends must accept before their recommendations count for you. You can Unfriend or Block anyone; blocked people are listed under Blocked, where you can unblock them.
Who sees your recommendations
“Friends see my name”: friends see your name next to your recommendations and notes. Everyone else sees “Member”.
“Anonymous”: your recommendations still count, but no one sees your name. Friends see “A friend”.
Your phone number and ZIP code are never shown to other members.
Account
Your account
In Profile & Settings you can update your name and ZIP code, change your email or password, choose your default search, and turn first-time tips back on.
Forgot your password? On Log In, tap “Forgot password?” and follow the email.
Passwords need at least 8 characters with a letter and a number. Very common passwords (like “Password1”) and your own name or email are blocked. A short phrase of unrelated words is easy to remember and hard to guess.
Deleting your account removes your recommendations and notes. Contractors you added stay in the app for others to use.
