Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

• Account information: your name, email, password (stored securely in hashed form, never in plain text), ZIP code and, if you add it, mobile phone number.
• Approximate location: map coordinates for your ZIP code (not your street address), used for "Local area" searches.
• Your activity: recommendations, notes, tags, contractor listings, category suggestions, reports, friend requests, blocks and settings.
• Invitations: email addresses of people you invite.
• Technical information: basic log data such as IP address, device and browser type, which our hosting providers record to keep the Service running and secure.
• Activity and security records: the date you last used the Service; a record of sign-ins, failed sign-in attempts and password resets and changes, with your approximate country and device type (kept 90 days); error reports from the app, without anything you typed into forms (kept 90 days); and a record of changes to contractor listings and administrator actions, including who made them (kept up to 2 years). We use these only to keep the Service secure, prevent abuse and fix problems. Deleting your account deletes your sign-in records.

2. How we use it

To run the Service: create your account, show recommendations from friends and people near you, send sign-in, password-reset, friend-request and invitation emails, keep the Service secure, prevent abuse and respond to you. We do not sell your personal information and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

3. What other users can see

• Friends (and people with a pending friend request with you) can see your name and email.
• If your setting is "Friends see my name," friends see your name next to your recommendations and notes. Everyone else sees your recommendations and notes anonymously (as "Member" or "Member near you"). If your setting is "Anonymous," no one sees your name next to them.
• Your recommendations count toward the results other users see, even when shown anonymously.
• Contractor listings you add can be seen by all users.

4. Who we share it with

Only with service providers that help us operate the Service, such as our database and sign-in provider (Supabase), our web host (Cloudflare, which also runs the automated bot check on the sign-up, log-in and password-reset pages using signals from your browser and device), our email provider and a ZIP-code location service, under their own privacy and security commitments. We may also share information if required by law, to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public, or as part of a merger, sale or reorganization.

5. Your choices

You can edit your information, change who sees your name, and turn off friend-request emails in Profile & Settings. You can delete your account at any time; this deletes your profile, recommendations and friend connections. Contractor listings you added remain on the Service. Contact us at support@friendspros.com with any privacy request.

6. Security and retention

We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted connections and database-level access rules. No system is perfectly secure. We keep information while your account is open and for a limited time afterward in backups, or longer if the law requires.

7. Children

The Service is only for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

8. Changes and contact
